Proving you're never too old to learn new tricks, John R. Taylor, Vancouver's most generous Actor/Production Designer is embarking on his directorial debut at the age of 73.
He's got only 8 days left to fund his film. Here's the link for John's funding page.
If you're making movies in Vancouver, you know John well. He's quite possibly the brightest, most ingenious production designers around, with an arm-length long list of filmmakers he has helped, pitched in, donated his time and generally, supported. He is the only person I know who can take $60 and turn it into an amazing set that looks like a palace.
In my life so far, I have made 4 short films and 3 TV shows. He has worked on all but one of those productions. I can't imagine making a film/TV show without John.
If you've worked with him as an actor, then you know he's adventurous, determined, easy to work with and funny as hell.
If you've seen his work as a photographer then you, like me, have as many of his photos that you can afford hanging in your home.
This project - Says Who? - is a film John wrote based on his own personal experiences and he's cracking open his Film Director toolkit for the first time in his long life. I know it's tough out there for everyone, but that kind of thinking never stopped John from helping Vancouverites make their films.
So proud of John for embarking on this new journey. Can't wait to see his film.
