Sorry peeps, I've fallen behind on celebrating your successes on account of my own projects...but suffice to say you feisty Canadian Short Film Makers just keep the hits coming.
There is a dizzying array of Canadian short content on festival programs far and wide already this year. Not to mention some awards for our comrades, including Edmonton's very own Trevor Anderson who returned from Berlin with hardware from an award for his The Man That Got Away short.
Elsewhere in the world, Canadians enjoyed their shorts programmed into the NY Short Film Fest, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Sundance and the surprisingly hard to get into Big Sur Film Festival.
In fact Canadians are in SO MANY film festivals around the world, I couldn't begin to capture them all, but Telefilm Canada can. In their handy dandy 'Canadians at Festivals' page, you can see a list of every film at every festival.
Well, not every festival, I know they missed some of the festivals my last film was in. If that's the same for you, be sure to contact them with updates.
As we head into another year of exciting Canadian short film news, I look forward to hearing about the success of our fellow filmmakers especially at cool festivals like Tribeca.
Here in the 2012 program our Chris Hanratty competes with his film Rung, Arnaud Brisebois & Francis LeClerc continue their success with Trottuer and Martin Laporte debuts his new short Barcelona. The festival kicks off next week, good luck boys!
To all Canadian filmmaker either just making or just submitting to festivals - I look forward to hearing all about your film in 2012. Bring it, world!
